The future power system

Our research focuses on addressing key challenges related to stability phenomena in a changing power system. We develop new algorithms, analysis methods, and advanced control with a focus on operational security, system resilience, and the design of system services for the power system of the future. We investigate how converters interact with the power system and how these interactions can be optimized to instead support the system.
We develop mathematical models that describe the system's dynamic behavior and interactions between the system's various parts with the aim of designing the system's technical functionality. Our work includes the development of advanced algorithms for real-time monitoring of stability margins, enabling the identification of potential risks and taking optimal actions before they lead to disruptions.
We also explore data-driven methods and how AI/machine learning can be used to solve the system challenges we identify. Our goal is to create intelligent systems that not only monitor stability but also learn and adapt control over time.
