Marine current energy conversion
Extracting energy from marine currents is a largely unexploited renewable energy resource. An experimental plant deployed in a Swedish river enables verification of the theoretical design of vertical-axis technology, generator design and electrical system layout. Our research includes the design of vertical axis turbines and low speed generators that can harness energy efficiently from low water speed currents.
The electrical system is also in focus to ensure a reliable and flexible control and grid connection system that can also scale up for larger installations and farms.
