Applied fluid mechanics
Fluid mechanics at Luleå university of technology encompasses a wide array of scientific and engineering domains and plays a central role in addressing diverse societal concerns such as energy, health, space, urbanisation and environmental issues.
This extensive scope is exemplified by research endeavors that span an impressive range in length and time scales as well as Reynolds numbers, where, for instance, length scale range from microfluidics (10-6 m) to flow in space (10+6 m). The huge span implies different approaches but the research and education are still based on a common base of a combination of theoretical, experimental, and numerical techniques to uncover the underlying physical principles.
