Environmental legal issues relevant to climate and energy transition
My research primarily focuses on conflicts that exist between different environmental goals relevant to a sustainable energy transition. These include conflicts between the production of renewable energy or energy efficiency measures and protection of biological diversity or cultural value. My research contributes by drawing attention to these conflicts and identifying how (and where) they should be handled legally, based on a broader sustainability perspective. Therefore, the contribution of the research is to suggest how existing law should be interpreted and applied today, and also to inform the legislator about laws that are not purposefully designed for a sustainable transformation of the energy system.
