Fossil-free electic forest transports
The research focuses on the transition to electrified heavy road transport. The forestry sector is a major transport purchaser and accounts for 20% of Sweden's heavy transport. The vision is for efficient, electrified forest transport as part of the green transition.
The aim of the work is to accelerate the electrification of forestry road transport by removing system barriers. A large-scale shift to battery-electric trucks introduces several challenges as system complexity increases. Technical innovation, smart transport and charging planning, and new business models will be required. There are challenges, but also significant opportunities in this system shift.
